DEPRESSION: Most people have felt sad or depressed at times. But
when feelings of intense sadness -- including feeling helpless,
hopeless, and worthless -- last for days to weeks and keep you from
functioning normally, your depression may be something more than
sadness. It may very well be clinical depression -- a

PRE-MARITAL PREPARATION: An
Archway counselor can help you build on the strenghts in your
relationship, and address the areas that may be more problematic. Our
couselors are trained in the
PREPARE/ENRICH premarital counseling

ANXIETY & PANIC DISORDERS:
Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress, helping us deal with
tense situations. But when anxiety becomes an excessive, irrational
dread of everyday situations, it has become an anxiety disorder.
If you find that you can't stop worrying, are having panic attacks, or
are troubled with recurring thoughts or impulses, you may be suffering

FAMILY COUNSELING: Many
families struggle with sibling conflict, parenting issues, and a host

GRIEF & LOSS: Grief is
a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering we feel when
something or someone we love is taken away. While the death of a loved
one can certainly lead to intense grief, so can the loss of a
friendship, a job, our health, etc. Archway counselors have the
training and experience to help you work through the often
troubling emotions associated with grieving.
POST DIVORCE & FAMILY ADJUSTMENT:
Divorce is often a traumatic process for everyone involved. If you or
your family is struggling to cope with the effects of divorce, reaching
out to one of our Archway counselors could be your first step toward
healing the pain and minimizing the long term emotional scars that
divorce can leave in its wake.
ADDICTION & RECOVERY:
Addictions take many forms, sometimes involving substances like alcohol
or drugs, but other times revolving around other behaviors, such as
gambling, eating, or sex. Many Archway counselors have extensive
experience with helping people achieve and maintain recovery from

TRIBUNAL ASSESSMENTS:
Individuals engaged in the process of annulment or remarriage may be
referred to an Archway counselor by the Detroit Archdioses
Tribunal for assessment and/or treatment. Archway counselors are
trained in the Tribunal process and will coordinate services as
necessary.
PHYSICAL & SEXUAL ABUSE:
If you, or someone you care about, is suffering from the effects of
physical or sexual abuse, an Archway counselor can provide the caring,
sensitive services you need. Many of our counselors have extensive
experience in helping people cope with the complex psychological,
emotional, and social trauma associated with abuse.
CONSULTATION WITH SCHOOLS & PARISH STAFF:
Like any organization, schools and parishes have problems too. Archway
counselors are skilled in helping groups of people identify and resolve
the differences that inhibit their ability to function efficiently and
effectively. Our counselors can provide consulting services on almost
any organizational or interpersonal issue confronting parish organizations.
SEXUALITY ISSUES:
Archway counselors are trained and experienced in dealing with
even the most sensitive personal issues in a professional and
confidential manner. If you are concerned about your sexual behavior,
are having difficulties in sexual relationships, or have questions

POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD):
PTSD can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal
in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened, including
violent personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters,
accidents, or military combat. If you witnessed or experienced a

COLLABORATION WITH EAP & WORKPLACE PROBLEMS:
Many of our Archway counselors have years of experience working in and
with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). If you want to take advantage
of your employers EAP benefits, please contact an Archway counselor and
discuss the nature of your problem; the counselor will help determine
the best way to get you the assitance you need.
DIAGNOSIS & REFERRAL:
It may not always be the case that Archway counselors can provide the
specific services that you need. In such cases, our counselors stand
ready to assist you through a careful assessement of your situation,
and appropriate referrals to other professionals or organizations that
may be able to provide the services you need.
